rings are circles…
and circles have always fascinated me.While reading a book called,
Secrets & Mysteries, by Sylvia Browne I discovered
that in ancient traditions the wedding band was an amulet of
sorts-“It was believed that if bad luck came to a married couple, it would
get trapped in the circle (the ring)
and it would just stay there, running in a circle for eternity.”
After I read that I was astonished and amazed…I began to imagine
these tiny demons whirling around a ring and hence, my piece
called tiny demons was born…
a stitched wedding band…
the tiny demons whirling around and into the ring!
While reading this book, I was fascinated by Lynn asking
her teacher why she always sat on the ground with her legs
criss-crossed…
“We have always sat in this way. We pay respect to the
mother (earth) by sitting with our bodies in a circle.
It is more efficient this way, because it preserves your
energy. And more than that your body becomes
a silent prayer. You sit in a continuous round (circle)
of energy and then slowly you become the center
of that circle of energy.”
I had never thought of that regarding sitting that way!
(This is one of my antique postcards…I looove it!)
Lastly, I wanted to share a real story…
A couple, whom I know, have been married for over 20+ years.
There anniversary came around recently and they
wanted to buy each other something.
Because things had been a bit tight, due to the economy, they decided to
buy each other a card.
So off they went to a card store and spent half an hour looking at
cards to find just the perfect card for one another.
Once they each found the appropriate card they walked up to one
another, while still in the store and handed one another
the card.
They both read the cards and were delighted and touched
by what the other person had chosen. Then they heartly
agreed they would put the cards back on the shelf and
take the $3.50-$4.00 per card that they would have spent
and decided to go and buy a bottle of wine and have dinner at home…..
true love.

What was so much fun about this story
is that it is true and I know the people.
It was humorous (you would have to know them and their
personalities) and heartwarming at the same time
because they love each other

I forgot to mention, I did not know the meaning behind the wedding bands. Your demons around the ring represents the perfect image I had in my head.
I did not know about the rings either!
It was fascinating to me but, not surprising
because, so many of our customs have evolved from
some ancient time long ago with a very different meaning.
